What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi, a form of martial art, originates from ancient China. Now,
it is practiced throughout the world as an effective exercise for
health. Tai Chi is recognizable for its fluid, gentle movements that
are relaxed and slow in tempo.
Many styles are studied throughout the world; beginning with the
oldest Chen, Wu, and Wu Hao. These styles are characterized by
jumping kicks and vigorous punches. The also popular Yang style is
represented with deep stances and sweeping arm movements.
Sun style provides a more gentle exercise to increase mobility,
is easier to learn, and has special healing and relaxation
properties. It is endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation for its
health benefits.
Balance and Breath
Balance and transference of weight is the core training for Tai Chi.
Combined with Qigong breathing, the practitioner achieves lasting
health benefits. Through movement and breath, Qi or Life energy
circulates throughout the body. Many have achieved lower blood
pressure, more bone density and diabetic benefits of increased
circulation.
